Microsoft Certified: Planning and Administering Microsoft Azure for SAP Workloads AZ-120 Exam Review January 2026
The Microsoft AZ-120 exam is one of Microsoft’s role-based certification exams and is fully focused on planning and administering Azure environments for SAP workloads. This certification validates your ability to design, migrate, and operate SAP solutions on Microsoft Azure while ensuring performance, security, and high availability.
This certification falls under the Microsoft Azure certification track and is specifically targeted at professionals who manage SAP systems in the cloud. Candidates pursuing this certification are typically expected to have hands-on experience with SAP administration and a solid understanding of Azure infrastructure. While expert-level knowledge isn’t strictly required, an intermediate to advanced understanding of SAP architecture, Azure compute, storage, networking, identity, and cost management is highly beneficial.
The exam covers a broad range of topics related to running SAP workloads on Azure, including planning Azure infrastructure for SAP, deploying and configuring SAP systems, managing security and identity, implementing high availability and disaster recovery, and monitoring and maintaining SAP environments.
If you’re preparing for this exam, it’s highly recommended to use multiple study resources. Microsoft provides several official options, including the AZ-120 Microsoft Learn certification pathway, official documentation, study guides, and practice assessments. Instructor-led training is also available for candidates who prefer a structured and guided learning experience.
If you’re planning to take this certification, be sure to regularly check the Microsoft certification page to stay up to date with any changes to the exam. Microsoft periodically updates the skills measured, and it’s important to align your studies with the latest version of the exam. The full skills outline can be found on the exam page, but in summary, your knowledge is assessed across the following areas.
My Overall Experience in This Exam
My overall experience, based on both my higher and lower scoring areas, was as follows.
My Three Highest Scoring Areas Were
• Plan and design Azure infrastructure for SAP workloads
• Implement high availability and disaster recovery for SAP systems
• Monitor and maintain SAP workloads on Azure
My Two Lower Scoring Areas Were
• Deploy and configure SAP systems on Azure
• Manage security, identity, and access for SAP environments
This led me to believe that the deployment and security-related sections were more challenging than I initially expected. While these areas alone won’t necessarily cause you to fail the exam, they are definitely sections to pay close attention to during preparation, as the questions are often deeply scenario-based and require a strong understanding of both SAP and Azure concepts.
My Library for Study Consisted Of
• Microsoft Learn AZ-120 Certification Learning Path
• Microsoft AZ-120 Practice Assessment on Microsoft Learn
• Hands-on practice with SAP workloads on Azure
• Reviewing official Microsoft documentation
